Society today has more problems with the behavior of teenagers compared to the past ?What are the reasons of this ?What measures should be taken to tackle the issue
Teenagers have always had a “bad press”, but perhaps today their reputation for wild behaviour has more has more basis in fact . However I believe that society is not helping to make the situation better In fact it is making it worse
In the past children rarerly had a childhood in the sense that they do today unless they were very rich children were sent out into the fields and factories to work They were then married at a young age – even as young as 14 – and as a result they had no free time to create problems for society
Today children in the developed world enjoy a lengthy childhood and then have no responsibilities until they reach their early 20s Teenagers live at home are looked after by their parents and have all their needs seen to In my country teenagers often have money to spend They spend their ‘pocket money’ which can be quite substantial on clothes CDs and going out However some of them also have enough money for drugs and alcohol and both of these substances have helped make a minor problem that much worse
To find a solution to the problem of teenagers is not easy We cannot insist they marry young or even send them to work in the fields What we can do though is to make them realise they have a sense of responsibility to society and to limit the amount of money they have to spend More emphasis on how to be a good citizen and on doing more sport would also help along with a little more undrestanding on the part of society
